Colors and tradition, a photo journey around Dimitrie Ghica Park in Sinaia

After devoting a post to Sinaia’s pretty architecture, I thought it was only fair to show you also its green part, or some of it, since the whole region is surrounded by greenery everywhere.

Sinaia is a charming little town nestled in the valley of Bucegi Mountains, dramatic snow-covered peaks part of the Carpathian range. Typical architecture where gable-style roofs play the stars of the show, one of the many prides of this little town is its Casino, majestic building mainly used as congress venue. While the building itself draws visitors and attentions, I, for one, was happy enough wandering all around it and soaking in the local nature, so beautifully emphasized.

With so much green all around, it was only natural that Sinaia’s residents had a knack for creating peaceful oases, and in fact Dimitrie Ghica Park delivered 100 per cent.

Bucolic carts seemingly coming out of a not-so-distant rural past filled with flowers, people walking and jogging, children playing, the elderly debating on the benches, the occasional passer-by drinking at the occasional little fountain and majestic gothic-style buildings are some of the features that will make you not want to leave this laid-back sanctuary where nature blends with tradition.

I was told Sinaia is a very touristy place in Romania, truth be said, more in winter for all the snow activities than in summer, and this is probably why in July I haven’t seen a huge crowd and could manage to better enoy the place instead.

We arrived at night, and while the cool breeze gave us a very much appreciated break from the Italian heat, darkness didn’t quite allow us to drink in the beauty of what would have been our surroundings for the following two days.

Being in a valley at some 800 meters above sea level blessed us with a very pleasant breeze and, apart from some shower threat, all our stay we could enjoy a crisp fresh wind, making it lighter to carry my camera and lenses, that is. Below are some of the pictures I took while strolling in the lovely Dimitrie Ghica Park in the city center, aptly located among the wonder that is Peles Castle, fascinating Sinaia Monstery and the monumental Bucegi Mountain.
