Along Sardinia’s Emerald Coast, a day on the boat

I haven’t been back to Sardinia in a while now, but I still keep some pictures from the lovely and precious experiences I have every time I go home.

Last time I spent a day on the famous Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast), a long stretch of beaches that are not usually described in flattering terms in my writings, and not because I come from another area, obviously. There are many reasons why I’m not a fan of such exclusive, private, villas-strewn, for-rich-only, VIP-studded beaches, and mainly involve the fact that natives there don’t feel at home but rather like foreigners, especially in the high season, when tycoons from Italy and the rest of the world get there to relax and engage in less than respectable parties and behaviors.

However, when I was there last time was still low season, so I could enjoy what that part of Sardinia is rightly known for, its stunning landscapes, sandy beaches and crystal waters, like just about Sardinia’s coast all around, that is.

When I went, it was end of April, so summer was still a far mirage, but weather was great, not cold anymore but not too hot either yet.

My parents and I were guests at the quaint village of Porto Pozzo, right near beautiful beaches, and the day after our arrival, along with other forty people we went on a boat trip off the gorgeous renowned coast. I didn’t swim as even though it was great weather it wasn’t warm enough, but there was someone brave enough to take plunge nevertheless!

We had a typical rustic meal made with lobster-sauce pasta and local cheese, sausages, bread and wine offshore, enjoying the sight of wildlife hunting for food and occasional tourists taking advantage of the great weather when winter was nearing its end.

I hope my small photo selection below will give you a little hint of what’s Sardinia during summer!
